Applications Open!
Indigenous performing and visual artists are now invited to apply for a slot in the 2026 Nogojiwanong Indigenous Fringe Festival - the first and only Indigenous Fringe in the known world - taking place from June 17-21 at the Peterborough Theatre Guild.
Fringe festivals are a unique opportunity for artists to share their work with the public. No gatekeepers here! Applicants are chosen by lottery and are free to present whatever they wish. The only rules for NIFF are that the artist group must be at least 51% Indigenous, performances must be no more than 60 minutes in length, visual art must fit into the available space - and everything has to be safe and legal. Fringe artists range from absolute beginners to grizzled veterans, with artists and festivals across North America supported by the Canadian Association of Fringe Festivals.
Participating artists are given a performance/display space, technical and marketing support and 100% of box office or art sales. More information and applications are available on our website and we welcome questions by email at indigenousfringefest@gmail.com. NIFF staff are always happy to help with applications and chat about art, festivals and life. Deadline to apply is January 10, 2026.
A full schedule for the June 17-21 festival will be available online in early May and ticket sales will start in late May.
