When is the Festival?
The festival will open on Indigenous Peoples Day, June 21, 2022 with a special opening. This will be followed by several days of performances that will take place over 5 days in June, 2022.

Where will performances take place?
All shows will be outdoors on the adjacent grounds to
Enwaayang Building at Trent University. Please have a look at our Venue Map for more details.

How many performances will there be?
There will be 10 companies at the festival who are all participating in outdoor performances. All shows are 60 minutes or less.

What is a Fringe Festival?
It is an unjuried, uncensored festival for independent performers in theatre, dance, music and comedy. Participants send in applications and are chosen by lottery. Performers receive 100% of the box office proceeds. NIFF is proud to be a member of the Canadian Association of Fringe Festivals.

What’s different about NIFF?
All the performers/performance companies in this festival will have a majority of Indigenous artists.  Artists will be supported by senior Indigenous artists as mentors and we will hold a variety of gatherings and workshops as well as the performances.

What kind of COVID-19 procedures will be followed?
Our Health and Safety Coordinator will establish procedures that follow local public health guidelines. They will also ensure first aid is available on site during the festival, as well as work with technical staff to ensure the safety of our indoor and outdoor venues.
