When is the Festival?
The festival will open on Indigenous Peoples Day, June 21, 2023 with a special opening. This will be followed by several days of performances that will take place over 5 days in June, 2023.
Where will performances take place?
There are four outdoor sites on the adjacent grounds to Enwaayang Building at Trent University and one indoor space at Nozhem First Peoples Performance Space. Please have a look at our Venue Map for more details.
Rain Plan: Outdoor shows will move into the nearby building in case of rain.

What is a Fringe Festival?
It is an unjuried, uncensored festival for independent performers in theatre, dance, music and comedy. Participants send in applications and are chosen by lottery. Performers receive 100% of the box office proceeds. NIFF is proud to be a member of the Canadian Association of Fringe Festivals.
What’s different about NIFF?
All the performers/performance companies in this festival will have a majority of Indigenous artists. Artists will be supported by senior Indigenous artists as mentors and we will hold a variety of gatherings and workshops as well as the performances.

How do I get to the festival?
There are many ways to get to Trent East Bank.
1. There is a bike path goes from downtown to Trent called the Rotary Greenway Trail.
2. There are buses that take you to Trent University.
West Bank
#2 Chemong (Travels to and from the downtown terminal)

#6 Sherbrooke (Preferred route for those traveling from campus to the terminal)
#8 Monaghan (Travels from campus to Lansdowne Place mall with no stop at the downtown terminal)

Transit riders can now map and plan trips on Google Maps! Simply use your Google Maps app or web browser on your computer or phone, input your destination to get directions, and then click on the bus/transit icon. The map will show you your route and the travel/arrival time, as well as when the next bus will be arriving.
3. You can drive to the festival and use free parking in lot X. Please refer to our Venue Map for a visual.
